St Kevin’s U16 Match Report
St Kevin’s U16 Match Report Week 1
St Kevin’s U16 team came up against its first opponent on Saturday in Trinity Grammar School. Right from the first whistle the game was tough with both teams unable to keep the ball in hand. This resulted in lots of scrums. This is where the St Kevin’s forward pack started to dominate the game. With excellent cleaning out from Alex White and Scott Gall, SKC were able to get the ball wide and score the first try. The next two tries came from some hard work by Sam Browne. Not only setting one up but also scoring one himself.
The second half was different with Trinity putting the pressure back on SKC, limiting them to a well-worked team try that was the only score of the second half. Special mention must go to Sam Browne for consistency in his work ethic in the forwards, James Hoogenbosch for a great debut school game making some impressive runs down the side line, James Steeth for his spectacular defence and hooking and Jack Foster for his continuous hard hitting on the opposing backs. In the end the score was 24 – 0. With tries to Jehan Abysakera, Sam Browne, Scott Gall and Mitchell James also with 2 conversions.
