SKC 1st XV v. Xavier College

St Kevins 1st XV enjoyed the home advantage this weekend against Xavier College. With good support from parents and old boys SKC were fired up for another big game.

From kick off right up until the fat lady sang the boys maintained their intensity, and big hits from Will Chalmers brought the Skevies morale up throughout the game. Lei Gray dominated in contact making quality ground and scoring 3 tries. Dan Meddi set the example, running off the rucks and proving some serious leg strength, all that groaning behind the leg press has proved worthwhile for the big boy. Olly Hoy and Dave Hardesty cannot go unmentioned, and neither can Jack Ryan who all made a great contribution to the game, sticking to the game plan and executing their jobs effectively. Jack De Guingand was once again outstanding and Ross Arnold showed his pace, burning down the line to score his first try for SKC.

Skevies played a great team game, the talk was up, the support was there… The spirit was fantastic. Let’s keep up the attitude and train hard this week. Our goal has been to step up and improve every game, we have done it so far, make sure we keep doing it. It will pay off later in the season!
