Reminder about the Pillar Cup competition and the Melbourne Rebels
This is a reminder to those who are interested to get along and watch the Victorian Pillar Cup competition.
The Pillar Cup is the Premier Tier of rugby in Victoria, and amalgamates all Victorian clubs into six pillar teams. These clubs represent the pinnacle of Victorian Rugby, and there are three great matches to get along and see each week. The clubs are:
- Harlequin Souths
- Melbourne Barbarians
- Westgate Power
- Northwest University Lions
- Kingston Knights (includes Moorabbin)
- Eastern Suburbs
You can find the draw and locations of matches on the VRU website - so access the link on the right.
This level of rugby creates an entry pathway for Victorians to play for the new Melbourne Rebels, our team in the new Mazda Australian Rugby Championships. The ARC is the newly created missing link from Australian Rugby, providing a stepping stone between Club Rugby and the Super 14 International Competition.
Keep a note in your diaries for the start of the ARC season, which is on Saturday 11th of August. The Rebels will be playing away that week, but the following week - 18th of August, they will be playing at home.
