Mark Ella helps make President’s Lunch a great success

Friday, July 20th, 2007

Over 220 guests enjoyed hearing Mark Ella speak of his early years as a Schoolboy rugby player, at the SKC Rugby President’s Lunch on Saturday, June 16th.

He had come along earlier to watch the match against Melbourne Grammar, and was very impressed with the standard of play and the talent shown in the game.

It was another great game for SKC, who were able to over-power MGS by 41 to 3. The boys had great respect for each other, and this showed at the end of the game, when the our captain, Alex Gyles, and theirs, Tim Ridgeway, exchanged ties.

After that we adjourned to the Smith Hall for our lunch, at which we were joined by many guests from within St Kevins and from the broader rugby community. We were pleased to welcome guests from our opposition MGS, and others from other schools and rugby Clubs around Melbourne.

All enjoyed the positive spirit and the enjoyable food (even if did arrive a little late), and hearing Mark relate some of his history. A truly friendly and humble man, Mark was  able to relate to the boys and parents at many different levels. He is great commentator on the sport and genuinely engaging in his discussions.

Thanks to all who contributed to making this a great day.
