Semi Finals
St Kevin’s rugby had a successful weekend of rugby seeing the 1’s and 2’s into the Final next week, against our traditional rivals scotch college.
The 2’s played Xavier College in the semi final and it turned into an absolute cliff-hanger. SKC came into the game in a controlled and structured manner and pressured Xavier’s line causing Xavier to give two penalties, which a composed Mateesha Herath successfully converting both. However After St Kevins good start, 6-0, Xavier college came back to score the first try of the game. The nail biting game was played head to head all game, but won by St Kevin’s after John Novak scored in the dying seconds of the game. Final score SKC 13 Xavier 10.
The 1’s played their semi final at Burke road south against the threatening MHS.
The demanding game threatened St Kevin’s around the rucks and tested our counter attack. However, St Kevin’s showed their depth interchanging throughout the day. Mitchell James, Daniel Sleath and Tom Appelby played back to back games and where all influential. Olly Hoy, Dave Hardesty and Lei Gray where a strong force, working the ball up the field and defending enthusiastically. The forwards where dominant in the line outs, adapting to MH’s numbers and upsetting their ball. Final score St Kevins 26 MH 3.
