SKC U/16 A vs GGS: May 11th at Burke Road South
St.Kevin’s College came up against Geelong Grammar School in Round 2 of the home and away season. St.Kevin’s previously played Geelong at the Melbourne Grammar School tournament. The team knew it would be a physical match and would have to work tirelessly all day.
In the first 15 minutes Geelong Grammar threw absolutely everything they had in the tank, St.Kevins managed to withstand this, under immense pressure with Geelong Grammar maintaining possesion for 15 minutes. During the time Geelong Grammar had the ball set St.Kevins up for the rest of the game, knowing that to win this game we had to play in their half. St.Kevins succeeded this goal capitalisng on each opportunity with points each time St.Kevins had possesion in their half. The forwards secured the ball and hit up continuously the whole game. The backs were getting clean ball allowing them to perform their moves with space and run over the advantage line.
St.Kevins ended up winning the game 24-7 with James Bounds scoring 3 tries and Tim Carman converting 3 kicks and a penalty. Although James scored three tries it was a great team effort. It is good to come away with this win to set us up against Xavier College who are always a tough competition.
