Comments:
In trying conditions and against a spirited Xavier side, the Gold team compiled another efficient performance, matching their opponents spirit and excelling in structure and dynamic impact across the field. The wet conditions demanded mastery up front, and the side was led magnificently by the back row, especially by Jeremy Crowe and Daniel Perree, along with the usual skill of Captain Liam Utri. Indeed, all players were of great credit to the College in their endeavours, none more than those who also played first for the Green team in an earlier fixture (Walsh, Marriott, Crowe, Bergin, Kinch, O’Brien), as well as the gutsy efforts of Daniel Waldron in backing up for the Gold match. The team still needs to work more purposefully towards achieving better pattern in its play, and improved drive and clearance in the ruck zone will allow this to be forthcoming.
