Under 16B’s Vs Carey - 24 May
SKC secured a triumphant win over rivals Carey at home. Final score being SKC 34 to Carey’s 7.
A frosty and damp morning made conditions tough for both teams. Wet ball and cold hands made for numerous unforced handling errors. The backs effectivley adapted to these conditions by using kick and chase tactics.
John Griffiths on debut scored 3 brilliant tries getting SKC off to a great start. This was followed up by 3 more tries by Jack Mason, Matt Caufield, and Will Kennish all getting one a piece. 2 conversions were also well kicked by Jack Mason.
The SKC forwards are to be congratulated on their outstanding effort at the break downs and in the scrums, this made the half-back’s job all the more easier with the excellent clean ball. John Griffiths must also be congratulated on his amazing running style that resulted in 3 tries. Henry Baxter was unlucky not to score his maiden try when the ball was kicked away in goal a split second before he could dive on it, this would have been a nice reward for his excellent defence on the wing. I wish to thank the referee for keeping tight control a game played with passion by both teams. Also thanks to Carey for a great match.
