Attention all SKC Rugby boys and supporters

I have been asked to let everyone know about some rules that need to be remembered by all visitors to the ground.

1 – Dogs are not permitted on the school grounds at any time.

2 – Smoking is not permitted on the school grounds – anywhere, anytime.

Also, let’s all recall that we should take a lead in positive behaviour regarding referee’s decisions. No matter what we think, we should take the game in good spirit, and move on even if we think the ref got it wrong. Three points I would encourage all parents and boys to think about:

A)   Referees don’t get paid - they volunteer for the love of the game. We would not have games without them. There are not many boys who have put their hands up to try this.

B)   Referees will always get some calls wrong - it would be impossible for them to see everything and catch every nuance, but hopefully the errors are evenly spread over both teams. Sometimes they won’t be - but that also should even itself out over a season.

C)   It is a very rare game that a ref’s mistakes would change the outcome of a game. You will frequently hear someone grumble about a bad referee decision, but if asked, most players concede that the right team won the game on the day.

Given these points - let’s take the lead a show some positive spirit on the field. We lead rugby on the field, let’s lead with positive behaviour off it!
