Annual Report, 2007

St Kevins had an excellent year in rugby in 2007. The full President’s Report is attached for detailed reading, but a summary of the year is shown on this page.

Highlights of the year are headlined by the success of our rugby teams in their competions. All age groups and divisions performed credibly, and in all teams where there were finals rounds, there was a St Kevins team fighting it out.

Our first XV certainly lead the way for the school, dominating the competition, managing to win in all arenas they competed.

They won against their traditional foe, Scotch College in the pre-season round robin tournament held at Mentone Grammar’s Keysborough grounds. They were then able to go through the season undefeated, and win the Grand Final again vs Scotch, at the same ground. During the season, they also managed to win the Canterbury Gold Coast tournament, beating teams from around Australia, and some rather surprised New Zealand schools - who were left wondering just who St Kevins was!

Other highlights of the year include:
* The launch of this website, which received over 10,000 hits in the first year.
* Providing a solid contribution towards the Gold Coast tour for two teams from the U/16 and Open age groups.
* The laying of a healthy financial platform for the organisation for the future.
* A great lunch for the SKC rugby community, with Mark Ella telling us entertaining stories of his times as a schoolboy rugby player and then as a Wallaby.

Thanks to the contributions of a great committee and group of volunteers, who always make light and enjoyable work of helping out.
